Serdar Bilgili was born in 1963 in Istanbul, Turkey as a child of a family from Kahramanmaras. After graduating from Robert College in Turkey, he studied Business Administration in Redlands University, CA, USA.

He performed his internship in Vienna, Austria in 1983 and returned back to Turkey in 1984. He is currently a successful businessman and owns some companies in Textile, Construction and Tourism industries.

Serdar Bilgili elected to BJK Management Board in 1992, and served the club until 1998 under the president Suleyman Seba's management. Within this period, he served as General Secretary and Press Agent.

Serdar Bilgili was elected to be the president of Besiktas on March 26, 2000 for a period of two years.
