| Our smiley is back to
the site. It was such a memorable night in Fenerbahce Sukru Saracoglu
Stadium in Istanbul. This game will always be remembered as one of the
best matches ever played in history. Here is the summary: Fenerbahce
attacked, but Tumer scored to make it one-love for Besiktas. Fenerbahce
answered quickly with Brasilian Luciano's bicycle-kick. Then Carew's
thin-head-line put Besiktas ahead before the end of first half. Fenerbahce
had to wait until Alex's header in 69th for equalizer and hopes for a
possible victory. However, Besiktas' young star Ibrahim Akin answered in
76th with a long-shot missile which exploded right inside the goal to put
Besiktas ahead one more time: 2-3. While everybody was thinking that
another answer would come from Fenerbahce, it was referee who answered and
apparently did not want Besiktas to go home with a golden victory. He
created a penalty kick from a position where there was no tackle at all
for Fenerbahce to have some more hopes again. He also wanted to make sure
that Besiktas would not respond by sending Besiktas' goal keeper Oscar
Cordoba with a red card because of his objections to the penalty position.
Besiktas forwad Daniel Pancu had to go to the goal, because Besiktas
substituted all three players. Alex would not waste this noble gift from
referee, and Pancu could not save. 10-men Besiktas, no goalkeeper, it is
3-3 and referee determined injury time as 8 minutes!!!. While everybody
was holding their breaths for a about-to-come Fenerbahce goal against a
Besiktas goal defended by a forwarder, Besiktas' Ahmed Hassan put all of
his efforts to get the ball and pass to Koray from outside the penalty
area in 92nd. Koray was highly motivated not to miss any opportunity in
this highly emotional game. And he did not miss. He fired another missile
and hit the net one more time for a remarkable victory to be remembered
for many years to come. |
