Suleyman Seba
Süleyman Seba was born on April 5, 1926 in Soguksulu Village of Sakarya Province, Turkey. He started to play in Besiktas Juniors' Team when he was in Kabatas High School. He was then promoted to the Besiktas A Team in 1945.
He scored the first goal in BJK Inonu Stadium, against the Sweden's AIK in the opening game of the stadium in 1947. He played 184 games and scored 44 goals.
However, he had to retire from playing due to an injury in 1954.
He served Besiktas in different positions until he was elected as the President of Besiktas in 1984. During his successful presidency of 16 years, Besiktas has won 5 Birinci Lig Championships, 4 Federation Cup Titles, 4 Presidency Cups, 5 Turkish Sport Writers Association cups and 3 Prime Ministry Cup. Besiktas always played for Championship during his presidency. Besiktas came second 7 times and most of them were dramatic losses of championships. As a result of his success, he has won all the elections and served as President until he retires from Presidency in 2000.
